Hey Foodie Fam,
Lately I’ve been thinking about something that doesn’t get talked about enough.
When did we stop having hobbies?
When did we stop doing things just because they were fun… or whimsical… or creative… or made absolutely no sense financially?
Somewhere between becoming the “new adults”, paying bills, building careers, navigating health scares, managing relationships, and trying to meal prep on Sundays, we quietly let go of the things that once made us feel light.
Remember when we used to try new things just because?
Painting. Baking something complicated. Planting random seeds. Rearranging our rooms at midnight. Starting projects with no outcome attached.
Now everything feels like it has to be productive. Profitable. Optimized. Fat-loss focused. Efficient.
And while discipline is beautiful (you know I love a solid routine), I’ve realized something:
Whimsy is healthy too.
Creativity is nourishment.
Hobbies are nourishment.
Doing something that doesn’t “advance” you, but simply delights you, is nourishment.
This month, I’m reclaiming that part of myself.
I’m starting a vegetable garden. 🌿
Nothing fancy. Just a small, intentional space where I can grow my own herbs and vegetables. I want to get my hands in the soil. I want to watch something grow because I cared for it. I want to slow down long enough to see the process.
There’s something poetic about growing your own food when your entire platform is about transforming your health through food. It feels full circle.
And maybe that’s what March is about.
Not just spring cleaning your closet. Not just resetting your macros. Not just “getting back on track.”
But asking yourself:
What used to light me up that I’ve abandoned?
What would I try if I didn’t need it to make sense?
What would feel playful again?
For some of you, it might be dancing in your kitchen. For others, journaling. For someone else, finally taking that pottery class.
Health isn’t just what’s on your plate. It’s the life you’re building around it. So, this month, I’m inviting you to bring one small piece of whimsy back into your routine.
Plant something. Bake something new. Create something. Try something.
And if you’re feeling brave, hit reply and tell me what hobby you’re reclaiming. I would love to cheer you on.
Here’s to becoming the kind of adult who still makes room for wonder.
