Hey Foodie Fam,
Summer is in full swing, and the sunshine, sweet drinks, and social gatherings seem endless. While summer is all about enjoying life, I know how tricky it can feel to stay on track when your calendar is packed with dinners, BBQs, and weekend brunch.
But here’s the good news: You don’t have to choose between enjoying yourself and staying committed to your health goals.
As someone who’s lost 44 lbs (and counting!), following a flavorful plant-based lifestyle, I’m here to tell you: with a little game plan, you can absolutely do both.
☀️ My Pro Tips for Eating Out Without Derailing Your Progress:
- Scan the menu ahead of time. Deciding before you arrive helps you avoid impulsive choices when you’re hungry and everyone else is ordering fries.
- Look for veggie-loaded, grilled, or whole-food options. Swap creamy sauces for vinaigrettes and choose meals that are high in fiber and protein to keep you full and satisfied.
- Don’t be afraid to customize. Restaurants are usually happy to adjust a dish—ask for dressing on the side, sub a salad for fries, or add extra veggies.
- Practice the “plate method.” Fill half your plate with veggies, a quarter with protein (like beans, tofu, or lentils), and the rest with carbs. Balance is key.
- Don’t skip meals to “save room.” This backfires every time. Eat as you normally would throughout the day, so you arrive at your meal grounded, not ravenous.
- Savor the moment (and the food). Eat mindfully, drink water between bites, and remember; this journey is about building a lifestyle, not avoiding life.
