Stay Cool & Nourished: What to Eat During a Heatwave 🌞🍉

Hey Foodie Fam,

When the temps are sky-high and just thinking about turning on the stove makes you sweat; what you eat matters more than ever.

During a heatwave, our bodies crave foods that cool us down, keep us hydrated, and are easy to digest. There are plenty of delicious plant-based options that tick all those boxes and support your fat-loss goals.

Here are some heatwave-friendly foods to stock up on:

🥒 Hydrating Vegetables

Cucumbers, zucchini, lettuce, celery, and bell peppers are over 90% water and loaded with fiber to help keep you full.

Pro Tip: Cucumber-avocado salad with lemon juice, fresh dill, and a sprinkle of hemp seeds.

🍉 High-Water Fruits

Watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, oranges, and peaches are juicy, sweet, and perfect for keeping you hydrated and satisfied.

Pro Tip: Frozen watermelon cubes with lime zest and chili powder for a fat-burning, refreshing treat.

🥣 Cold Grain Bowls

Skip the hot meals—cook your grains early in the morning or use leftovers and turn them into a chilled bowl with toppings like chickpeas, cherry tomatoes, spinach, and tahini dressing.

Pro Tip: Cold bulgur bowl with grilled corn, black beans, tomatoes, and avocado-lime dressing.

🥤 Smoothies & Chia Puddings

Blend up frozen fruit, leafy greens, and plant-based protein for a nutrient-dense, ice-cold meal or snack. Chia pudding is another great make-ahead breakfast that hydrates and satisfies.

Pro Tip: Apple pie chia pudding or protein green smoothie from my 3-day meal plan!

Try to avoid heavy, greasy, and overly salty foods; they can leave you feeling sluggish and bloated in the heat. Stick with lighter, fresher options and hydrate consistently with water or fruit-infused water.

If you're struggling to cook, don't feel guilty for keeping it simple. Summer is the season for no-cook meals, salads, and smoothie bowls—and your body will thank you for it.

Until next time, remember healthy doesn't mean boring.
